Treatment of Wooden Furniture

Although the Wooden Furniture is quite infamous for being one of the most durable and sturdy items in the house, they do undergo a fair amount of wear tear in their life. Although that wouldn’t make them break away quite fast but that does make them loose their gloss and beauty after some time. Once that happens then the user has to get the Wooden Furniture treated or polished to make sure that it returns to its original state. However, there are some things which can be used for care and slight treatment of the wood at the same time. This makes sure that more life can be added to the furniture. The following lines provide some tips which can be used for treating the furniture to make it look new and hideaway the blemishes that daily use has given it.

The first care or treatment advice of Wooden Furniture is to make sure that it is polished twice every year. Polishing of the furnishings is an excellent idea because it adds quite a lot of life to the item while also making it look efficient. However, one has to keep in mind that this act shouldn’t be done more than twice in a year as it might add an added layer of unwanted sheen on the furnishings – making them look quite weird. Another thing to remember is to use a polish which is not based on alcohol or silicone as this will ultimately damage the wood itself thereby destroying the whole furnishing. It is quite easy to make furniture polish – the user just has to mix three parts of olive oil into one part of lemon.

In order to make sure that the furniture finish is kept intact, the user should go for bottled shoe polish as it can be used to hide the marks and stains on the furniture. Another thing which the users can do is to go for table cloths as they are good for the furnishings as well as for the owners of those furnishings. Whenever the wooden item is being used as a food or dining table, it is prudent to cover it with a table cloth before putting any hot vessel. This is true for all furnishing made from wood. The heat is seen to damage the wood of the item thereby rendering them useless in the long run. Hence, be careful when mixing hot vessels and wood.

The last tip which one could follow is to use coasters. Water rings are seen to take away from the feel and look of the wood items and end up also damaging the wood. This can be easily solved by going for coasters when any liquid is being drunk or a vessel filled with liquid is being kept on the furniture. Even then if the water spots occur then it should be dried completely. After that, put some mayonnaise on it as they are seen to make the water spots disappear. These aforementioned tips ensure that the quality of your Wooden Furniture would maintain for quite some time.
